House of Usher
Originally a 20'' x 30'' screen print, turned into an illustration. "Madness" was to created to explore the elements of typography mixed with with a hand drawn effect. Edgar Allen Poe is one of my favorite writers and is a great inspiration, so I chose to explore the effects of typography alongside something that connects not only with me, but many others. I wanted to see what my whimsical design aesthetic would look like if paired with a touch of darkness.
I then took it a step further, and expanded from one screen print to a poster series of four different designs. I wanted to use different colors to also explore how color affected the mood of the viewer. I chose to pull quotes that aren't so well known from Poes work and bring forth an illustrated play on typography to invite viewers to dive into the world of Poe.
